Ok children, listen up! PM Kevin's going to give you an art attack.
To the untrained eye a can of soup is just a can of soup, however, to the artistic, it is so much more! It’s an artistic expression to a solution presented in a design of functional simplicity!
That is what I strive for. All my art (except perhaps the banner) follows my self imposed rules of functional simplicity. My drawings don’t use fancy things like rubbers, or rulers. I avoid such things which promote conformity. Imposing instruments have no place at my table.
If – like me – you have a desire to escape from the repetitive nature of mainstream art, just follow my guidelines to ensure that you too can produce unique art.
Unique art follows the design principles of functional simplicity. And what is more functional then a piece of paper? Nothing! So get your piece of paper and begin to draw. You must use a black pen to draw, there is no margin of error in this regards to unique art. If you use another colour, or design using a crayon, then you are a conformist and your art with never be unique.
It doesn’t matter what you draw, people, animals, locations. The golden rule is when you are drawing, do not correct any mistakes. It is essential that you don’t. And never draw slowly and carefully. Art is about being spontaneous!
After you have used up the space on your paper (or you’ve finished your picture) then its time to scan! If you still have more to draw, bad luck. Unique art is good for the environment, and only uses one bit of paper per piece. After scanning, open up your favourite vector graphics program. It’s time to savvy! Convert the bitmap into vector, then resize, delete, and move until your heart is content. The background must be transparent, and you always must put a tiny amount of colour into the picture.
